Education Director

This role requires an ambitious, passionate, and innovative educator and leader who aligns absolutely with the belief that education is the key to a more sustainable future. It requires someone who can think big but has their feet on the ground and is accomplished at implementing and achieving change. The Education Director must also be able to work comfortably in a culture so obviously shaped by the College’s values; indeed, they must embody that culture.

IB English A and TOK Teacher

UWC Costa Rica seeks a talented and highly qualified IB English A and TOK teacher committed to students' intellectual, social, and ethical development and eager to contribute to school life beyond the classroom. UWC Costa Rica values candidates who have experience with students from diverse backgrounds and are keen to engage in and practice the values of the UWC movement.

    • A degree in English and/or a very closely related discipline
    • A nationally or internationally recognized teaching degree qualification and/or work experience in English or a closely related field.
    • Minimum two years experience in teaching, preferably in international schools; recent experience with IB is a distinct advantage.
    • Competency in Spanish or desire to learn
    • The willingness to engage with students and generate enthusiasm for learning 
    • Cross-cultural exposure, respect, and understanding
    • Willing to do weekend duties and CAS
    • Experience teaching TOK is a distinct advantage 
    • Experience in planning and executing experiential education activities
    • The ability to interact effectively with senior management, colleagues, and students
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • An eagerness to promote our sustainability framework actively in all aspects of the UWC Costa Rica curriculum: Academic, Co-Curricular, and Residential Life activities
    • The desire to engage and interact with local communities
    • The flexibility of approach and a collaborative style is essential
